Restyled Fashion

You are what you wear!

Restyled, reclaimed, call it what you like.... here are some designers and

retailers reinventing preloved fabrics

and clothing.

Bolero made from vintage fabric

Kate makes beautifully tailored, vintage inspired cropped bolero's in vintage and retro fabrics. Many of her designs are reversible and/or adorned with the sweetest little vintage fabric motifs or retro buttons. Each bolero is a

one-off design made with love, that guarantee's to add glamour and fun to any outfit! They come in two sizes 8-10 (S) 12-14 (M)

Rescued by Bowerbird Strapless Mini

We found a few yards of this stunning deep orange heavy vintage velvet fabric that was just dying to be made into something fabulous! The fabric is in excellent condition. A beautiful brushed velvet with a vintage tartan added to the top of the bodice for that extra bit of spunk!

The bodice is lined in satin. it is fitted through the bust and waist with a gathered skirt that falls to the thigh (but not too short!).

darling Clementine

Darling Clementine restyle preloved garments into young, hip and high fashion pieces. Every piece is a one-off statement, inspired by the orginal fabric.

They source preloved fabrics from accross the globe and then each piece is reworked by hand in Melbourne.

What I love about Darling Clemintine (besides the fun and style) is that they often rework sythetic, non-biodegradable fabrics that we really shouldn't buy new and give them an extended life.

Heidi and Seek is a young Melbourne label, hand producing unique one off pieces from preloved clothing and factory remnants.

Hayley Lau, the label’s founder, designs and sews each garment from reclaimed materials. She aims to counter the disposable nature of today’s fashion industry, which relies on exploited workers to bear the cost of the low prices offered to customers. She strives for fairness and eco-friendliness in every aspect of business.

Rachael Cassar

Rachael Cassar ia a young Sydney designer/label already grabbing attention overseas.

Her designs are high-end semi couture, constructed around the concept of sustainability. Rachael sources ‘reclaimed garments’ that she has 'chosen for the story they once had.' and maker them her own.

AMOOSI

British Designer, Louise Mcelroy , is hand-making her range using reclaimed fabrics and recycled materials. The materials are all biodegradable too. The only hitch is the flight to Australia!

Coco Repose

Designer Jessica Guthrie customizes garments incorporating vintage buttons, lace and appliqué that are a contemporary plversions bygone favourites. Everything is hand-sourced antiques and clothing from the late 1800s to the 1960s for the complete vintage fix.

This is my favourite store in the whole of Sydney and Sydney's best kept fashion secret- the workmanship and sense of history in the clothing is simply outstanding.
